U.S. auto supplier BorgWarner Inc. announces four new projects with three major Chinese manufacturers

BorgWarner Inc. a major U.S. automotive supplier in Auburn Hills Michigan has signed with three Chinese domestic car makers to provide them with car motors starting this year. The company will provide motors for a top Chinese domestic OEM’s 150kW pure electric platform, scheduled for mass production in March 2026. Additionally, the company said it will supply electric motors for the next-generation vehicles of another major Chinese domestic OEM, covering both range-extended and plug-in hybrid models, with production anticipated to begin in August and October 2025.

BorgWarner is continuing to expand its product portfolio for battery electric and hybrid commercial vehicles by agreeing to form a joint venture with Shaanxi Fast Auto Drive Group, a China-based market-leading commercial vehicle (CV) parts supplier specializing in transmission and drivetrain systems.

The company has collaborated with several Chinese car manufacturers on electric and hybrid vehicles incluidng;

  • Shaanxi Fast Auto Drive GroupBorgWarner formed a joint venture with this company to develop high-voltage inverters for commercial vehicles. 
  • Major Chinese OEMBorgWarner supplied a dual inverter with a boost function for this company’s plug-in hybrid and range extended electric vehicles. 
  • Leading automotive manufacturer in ChinaBorgWarner supplied high-voltage hairpin (HVH) eMotors for this company’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV). 
  • Major Chinese domestic OEMBorgWarner supplied electric motors for this company’s next-generation vehicles. Leading Chinese OEMBorgWarner supplied an integrated drive module for this company’s hybrid vehicles.
  •  In its announcement of yesterday it stated:  The projects include the supply of 400V high-voltage hairpin (HVH) motors to a prominent Chinese new energy vehicle supplier for their 200kW hybrid rear-drive platform, with production planned to commence in August 2025. BorgWarner will also provide motors for a top Chinese domestic OEM’s 150kW pure electric platform, scheduled for mass production in March 2026. Additionally, the company will supply electric motors for the next-generation vehicles of another major Chinese domestic OEM, covering both range-extended and plug-in hybrid models, with production anticipated to begin in August and October 2025.
