The executive order issued by President Trump is freezing trillions of dollars in federal grants and loans until they can be vetted. Millions of low income Amercians will be affected. According to news reports, the online system through which Medicaid receives federal funding to states nationwide, stopped working Tuesday morning. The stoppage may impact the government funds owed to hospitals, clinics and doctors who have rendered treatment to these persons.
The portal for federal reimbuirsements apparently had a red banner on it warning that the system was taking additional measures that could cause delays because of executive orders regarding potentially unallowable grants payments. The portals are down in all 50 states.
Medicaid renders health insurance to a fifth of all Americans and comprises 10 percent of the federal budget. Congress is considering major cuts to the program.
