Chinese funded and staffed cannabis farms popping up across the U.S.

There is a fascinating article and report about Chinese marijuana farms in states across the country and they are staffed by underfed Chinese workers. Here is the URL: https://www.npr.org/2024/06/24/1238497863/chinese-marijuana-farms-new-mexico

Alot of the workers came from China and may have crossed the border into the U.S. illegally. Others came from China throught he Carribean. There is also some information that Chinese citizens are being solicited through social media ads with false information. Other workers had their passports and phones were taken by managers so they are forced to stay and work. Some sleep in wooden sheds and dirt floors.

Now I thought that slavery was outlawed after the civil war. Why has Congress not acted on this new phenominon and why are we allowing this especially since it is China that is underwriting this! Shame on us.

In another case mentioned in the investigation workers in New Mexico had visible burns on their hands and legs. Many looked malnoursihed. Kudos to NPR for their superb work.
