According to new reports, Donald Trump said he would nominate Paul Atkins to run the Securities and Exchange Commission. Atkins is the CEO of Patomak Global Partners LLC . Atkins, a Republican former SEC commissioner. A lawyer by training who spent years working at the SEC in senior roles.
Atkins has been involved in crypto policy as co-chair of the Token Alliance, which works to “develop best practices for digital asset issuances and trading platforms,” and the broader blockchain trade association, the Chamber of Digital Commerce, as a member of its advisory board.
In the early 1990s, he was a staffer for two former chairmen, Richard Breeden and Arthur Levitt. In 2002, Atkins was appointed by President George W. Bush to be an SEC commissioner, a role he held until 2008.
