Government contractor KBR to pay $109 Million to settle False Claims Act case which said the company charged U.S. Army for unecessary materials in Iraq

KBR Inc. a major U.S. Government contractor will pay $108.75 Million to settle a False Claims Act case that alleged the company routinely changed the U.S. Army for unnecessary materials under an Iraq War contract. The whistleblowers who filed the suit asserted that one of the requirements of the contract was that KBR was supposed to check to see if it had excess material available in Iraq before ordering new materials. The whistleblowers were represented by Goldberg Kohn, Phillips & Cohen and Constantine.

The suit also alleged that KBR knowingly ordered around $340 million in excess materials during the Iraq war. Reports indicate that much of the material was either given to the Iraqui government or abandoned .
