New lawsuit alleges GM falsely advertises ACDelco auto parts as made in the USA when they are actually made in China

GM is facing a new class action lawsuit alleging that the automaker falsely advertises ACDelco auto parts as made in the United States, when in fact the parts are actually manufactured in China.

A report from Top Class Actions says the lawsuit was filed by plaintiff Norman Husar  in Ohio federal court, alleging that GM’s labeling practices violate the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act. Husar alleges he purchased an ACDelco automatic transmission filter labeled as “Made in USA” because he believed it was genuinely manufactured in the United States. However, when he opened the package, he discovered that the product itself was stamped with “Made in China.” According to the lawsuit, none of the other components on the filter indicated they were made in the U.S., either.

The lawsuit that GM’s use of “Made in USA” labeling on ACDelco parts misleads consumers into believing they are buying American-made products, allowing the company to charge higher prices for parts that are in reality manufactured overseas. The lawsuit seeks to represent anyone in the United States who purchased an ACDelco product with “Made in USA” labeling, but where the product or its components were in fact not made in the United States. Husar is pursuing claims under state and federal consumer protection laws.

The lawsuit follows the announcement of new tariffs imposed by the US on China.
