US investment in semiconductor chip development compared to China

The CHIPS and Science Act was signed into law in August 2022, and calls for investment of $53 billion into semiconductor manufacturing and research around the United States. This will include grants, cooperative agreements, loans and major 25% tax credits for capital investments in semiconductor manufacturing. The U.S. government is granting Intel up to $8.5 billion to help fund new chip plants in four states, the largest award yet in an effort to revive American chip-making overseen by the Biden administration. This will go toward new factories and expansion projects in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio and Oregon. Intelā€™s total investment in U.S. projects in the next five years is expected to exceed $100 billion, according to the department, which is overseeing the grants

Chinese semiconductor industry has 25 semiconductor investment projects in different regions implemented 2021-2022, and the Government has allocated over $291 Billion to semiconductor-related investment, Those projects covered various semiconductor-related investments, including panel displays, wafer foundry, storage devices, integrated device manufacturing (IDM), device/chips, platform/base, semiconductor equipment, semiconductor materials, packaging and testing.
