Chinese Ship Suspected of deliberately dragging anchor for 100 Miles cutting 2 major internet Baltic Cables

A Chinese vessel is being examined by European warship crews regarding sobatage for deliberatorly severing two data cables last week as its anchor was dragged along the seabed for over 100 miles. The ship, Yi Peng 3 is loaded with Russian fertilizer. The damage to undersea cables occurred in Swedish waters on Nov. 17-18, prompting that countryā€™s authorities to open a sabotage investigation.

It has been established that the ship dropped anchor but remained under way in Swedish waters on Nov. 17 at around 9 p.m. local time. The dragging anchor cut the first cable between Sweden and Lithuania shortly afterward, according to media reports. The Chinese bulk carrier is guarded by North Atlantic Treaty Organization ships belonging to Denmark, Germany and Sweden.

Last year, a Chinese-registered vesselcut the Balticonnector gas pipelineand a telecommunication cable connecting Finland and Estonia with its anchor .
