Chipmakers receiving US federal funds are barred from expanding in China for ten under a new rule from the Commerce Department. Companies that received funding must not engage in joint research āwith a foreign entity of concernā āRecipients will be required to enter into an agreement restricting their ability to expand semiconductor manufacturing capacity in foreign countries of concern for 10 years after taking the moneyā said the U.S. Commerce Department Secretary Gina Raimondo.
