US bans Pentagon from buying Chinese batteries from top companies there

United States lawmakers have banned the Defense Department from purchasing batteries produced by China’s biggest manufacturers. The rule was implemented as part of the National Defense Authorization Act and the restrictions include batteries from Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd, BYD and four other companies. The four other companies are Envision energy Ltd, Even Energy Co, Gotion High Technology Co and Hithium Energy Technology Co . Prior restrictions include prohibiting the Defense Department from using Chinese semiconductors.
