Whistlebowers: US oligarch hunters widen scope to include facilitators including lawyers, accountants and others

Prosecutors pursuing Russia’s oligarchs and their assets have new targets including lawyers, accountants and others who make it possible for Russia to evade U.S. sanctions.

Prosecutors in the past year have charged U.S. lawyer who facilitated payments for an oligarch who allegedly worked as a property manager for Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. Prosecutors have also targeted companies and individuals who have helped Russia secure military and other sensitive technologies, including Russian-German national Arthur Petrov, arrested on Aug. 26 for allegedly exporting sensitive microelectronics with potential military applications to Russia.
