Chinese cyberattacks may have stolen data from almost every American according to reports

According to the New York Times and officials, China has stolen sensitive information from almost every American and cyberattacks by China on American companies and systems has been substantially increasing. The Chinese hackers have infiltrated all major American telecommunications companies and that the stolen data could allow China’s intelligece service to track and spy on policians, intelligence personnel and others for sensitive information.

American and British officials describe the cyberattack campaign as “unrestrained” and “indiscriminate”. Investigators say that the attacks are linked to three China based technology companies that work for China’s military and civilian intelligence agencies that carry out foreign operations. The hackers were able to listen in on telephone conversations and read unencrypted text messages. The increased cyberattacks on US businesses raise difficult issues concerning how to protect American companies and their intellectual property.
