Victory Pharma Inc. has agreed to pay $12.5 million to Uncle Sam to settle a whistleblower suit alleging it paid kickbacks to doctors to induce them to prescribe its pain meds. The kickbacks, according to the complaint, took the form of cash, tickets to sporting events, golf outings, trips and more. It also included one outing to a strip club which included lap dances for female staff the complaint said. The whistleblower was awarded more than $1.7 million as part of his share of the recovery under the False Claims Act. Jeffrey Newman represents whistleblowers.
